Terms of service
These Terms govern your use of Toldya, including the Chrome extension, backend service, and optional Discord server integration.
1. The service
Toldya is a text-to-speech alert service operated by Friendly Alien Studio. It can read selected Discord messages aloud through a supported client and may also receive alerts through the official Toldya Discord bot when a server administrator enables that integration.
Toldya is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord, Google, Chrome, Render, Netlify, or Dodo Payments.
2. Eligibility and authority
You must satisfy Discord’s applicable minimum-age rules and have legal capacity to agree to these Terms. If you install or configure Toldya for a Discord server, you represent that you have authority to add the app and select the channels Toldya may access.
3. Your Discord content and permissions
You remain responsible for the Discord accounts, servers, channels, and content you choose to use with Toldya. You must not use Toldya to access content you are not authorized to access or in a way that violates Discord’s terms, applicable law, or the rights of others.
You retain whatever rights you have in content processed through Toldya. You grant Toldya only the limited permission needed to receive, process, clean, relay, and speak that content and to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use Toldya to:
- break the law or facilitate unlawful activity
- harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse others
- circumvent access controls or obtain Discord content you are not entitled to receive
- interfere with, overload, probe, or attempt to compromise Toldya or its infrastructure
- resell, sublicense, or share a Toldya license except where we expressly allow it
- reverse engineer or bypass technical or licensing restrictions except to the extent applicable law expressly permits
We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, third parties, or compliance obligations.
5. Subscriptions and licenses
Toldya is offered on a paid subscription basis unless we expressly provide otherwise. Checkout, billing, subscription administration, and license issuance are handled through Dodo Payments.
A Toldya license may be subject to device-activation limits. You are responsible for keeping your license key secure. Where the product provides a device-disconnect control, use it before moving or reinstalling Toldya when practical so the activation can be released.
Prices, plan features, and device limits may change for future purchases or renewal periods. Any cancellation, refund, tax, or billing rights available to you also depend on applicable law and the terms presented at checkout.
6. Third-party services
Toldya depends on third-party platforms and services, including Discord, Chrome, Dodo Payments, Render, and Netlify. Their availability, APIs, policies, and technical behavior can change independently of Toldya. Your use of those services is also governed by their terms.
We are not responsible for outages, account restrictions, API changes, content, or other acts or omissions of third-party services.
7. Alerts are not guaranteed
Toldya is designed to make important messages easier to hear, but delivery and speech are not guaranteed. Alerts may be delayed, skipped, duplicated, mispronounced, unavailable, or affected by browser state, network conditions, Discord rendering, server configuration, operating-system voices, third-party outages, or software defects.
Do not rely on Toldya as the sole mechanism for emergency, safety-critical, medical, legal, financial, or other time-critical communications.
8. No financial or professional advice
Toldya may be used with communities that discuss trading, investing, or other professional subjects. Toldya merely relays or speaks content supplied by Discord users and communities. Friendly Alien Studio does not verify that content and does not provide investment, financial, legal, medical, or other professional advice through Toldya.
You are responsible for decisions you make based on messages you hear.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how Toldya processes data. By using the service, you acknowledge that processing as described there.
10. Changes to the service
We may add, remove, or change features, integrations, pricing, limits, or technical requirements. We may also discontinue all or part of Toldya. Where reasonably practicable, material changes affecting paid users will be communicated through the product or website.
11. Intellectual property
Toldya, its software, branding, website content, and related materials are owned by or licensed to Friendly Alien Studio, excluding third-party materials and user content. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use Toldya for its intended purpose while your access remains valid.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Toldya is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, perfect speech accuracy, compatibility with every Discord message format, or that every alert will be delivered.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Friendly Alien Studio will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, trading losses, data, business opportunity, goodwill, or anticipated savings arising from or related to Toldya.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Friendly Alien Studio’s aggregate liability arising from Toldya will not exceed the amount you paid for Toldya during the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation does not apply where applicable law prohibits it.
14. Termination
You may stop using Toldya at any time. Subscription cancellation does not necessarily erase local extension data; you can uninstall the extension or clear its local data separately. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, abuse, non-payment, security risk, or where continued operation would violate law or third-party platform requirements.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Toldya evolves. The current version and effective date will be posted here. If a change materially affects an existing paid subscription, we will provide notice where required by law.
